Earth’s radiance,
we are birthed from
celestial fire—discreet
expressions of form,
the children who
choose you to nurture
                                not to bridle
                                our minds.
Instead, you presume
eminent domain
over our sacredness,
a violation of parental
                                 conditionally granted
                                 upon our conception.
You recklessly shape
vulnerable hearts
into flawed versions
of yourselves—you
just can’t
                                 remember from
                                 whence you came.
We’re immortal
travelers clothed only
in love, reborn souls
who’ve lived at
least as many lives
as you, and we
still contemplate—why
we lose ourselves
                                 at the threshold
                                 of adulthood

“The human being is the only component of creation that can oppose, or that has a propensity to oppose, its essential function. Only the human being is capable of an ambition to dominate nature: to hate, to nullify peace, or even aspire to an understanding of her or his inner essence.”
