Opting for Disdain

I shed the cautions of

social order, opting for

disdain—a vestige psyche

reappearing from my youth,

when I envisioned swords

and windmills—notions

of noble causes, which

slowly eluded me.

Just passing time

these days, musing on

power mongers turning

against each other, and moon

lovers desperately chasing

fantasy lives prophesied by

their horoscopes.

We disparage our greatness

and accept the path of

least resistance.
